Hi,
I have a 18mth old boxer. We were recently told by our vet that he thinks it is a CCL tear. My husbanc and I are trying to figure out what would be best for her. We are afraid that surgery won't be successful and may only cause further problems. She is about 40lbs, so we know that the Conservative Management approach may not be the best, but should we try that first to see if it helps at all or is that risking further injury to her whole knee??

I just want you to know that during my research this article helped me tremendously in making the very hard decision for what type of surgery we needed to do :) Bo, my 6yr old Boxer baby is doing great now...even though there were unforeseen problems in that Bo's body rejected the wire used to stabilize his knee. The vet couldn't understand why it wouldn't heal then he had to take the wire out but not until there was sufficient scar tissue that had formed. Once the wire was removed he healed fast & now he gets around great!!! Thanks again so much for posting your story :)
